The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda,The Most Rt .Rev Dr. Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu, has warned young people about the dangers of misusing social media.
He emphasized that whatever they post online is permanently stored and can negatively affect their future, especially when they need help from the same people they may have insulted online.
“Whatever you post on social media is kept and can easily affect your future when you need help from the very people you insulted online.”Archbishop Kaziimba Said
Archbishop Kaziimba made these remarks while preaching during a thanksgiving service at Lubiri Secondary School , where students and staff were thanking God for the excellent performance of Senior Four and Senior Six candidates in the 2025 national examinations.
In the same sermon, the Archbishop Kaziimba expressed concern about people who receive blessings from God but fail to show gratitude. He referenced the Biblical story of the ten lepers who were healed, but only one returned to give thanks.
“Many people receive God’s blessings but forget to return and give thanks, just like the ten lepers—only one came back.”
Meanwhile, Moses Mugisha, representing the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Kedrace Turyagenda, warned school administrators against inviting indecently dressed musicians to entertain students.
“Schools must not invite musicians who dress indecently; head teachers who ignore this directive risk dismissal.”
He also cautioned schools about allowing parents to bring food during visiting days, noting that such practices could expose students to harm from ill-intentioned individuals.
“Food brought from outside can be a channel for harmful individuals to target students.”
The Head Teacher of Lubiri Secondary School, Agatha Nakisekka Ssenyonjo, emphasized the importance of gratitude and discipline among students.
“Discipline is key to success, and gratitude is an important value every student should uphold.”
During the event, top-performing students in Senior Four and Senior Six were awarded certificates and prizes. The school also recognized outstanding teachers and honored those who retired after serving for many years in line with government guidelines.
